Dress Code
The dress code throughout ICOMC 2026 is casual for all activities. However, if you prefer, you are welcome to wear a blazer, suit, or business attire.
Weather
The expected temperature during the conference is 20–25°C (68–77°F). Rain is not expected, although it may be windy. We recommend bringing a light jacket or sweater for outdoor activities. Since Búzios is famous for its beautiful beaches, you may also want to bring: swimsuit, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat or cap.
Mosquitoes are generally not expected to be a problem. However, if you are sensitive to insect bites or have allergies, bringing an insect repellent is recommended as a precaution.
Money and Payments
The local currency is the Brazilian Real (BRL).
• Although a few hotels and restaurants may accept U.S. dollars, exchange rates are generally unfavorable.
• Brazilian Reais can be withdrawn using international bank cards at ATMs available both at your arrival airport and in Búzios.
• Currency exchange offices are available in Búzios and commonly exchange U.S. dollars and euros. Other currencies are rarely accepted.
• International Visa and Mastercard credit cards are widely accepted. Security tip: cover the number of your credit card with a tape.
Food and Drinking Water
Brazil generally has good standards of food hygiene, and tap water quality is generally acceptable. However, to minimize the risk of gastrointestinal problems during your trip, we recommend avoiding raw foods and choosing bottled water whenever possible.
Please remember to bring any personal medications you may need. If you have food allergies, make sure to bring your prescribed allergy medication.
Transportation
Public transportation in Búzios is limited to buses. There are no metro or train services. Ride hailing apps such as Uber operate reliably and are generally reasonably priced. Taxis usually charge fixed fares (approximately BRL 30.00 per ride) and are typically more expensive than Uber.
